When his death was announced, Fonda posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, describing how he swept into her life and noting his large presence, keen mind and sharp sense of humor. At the festival she also paid tribute to her late Barefoot in the Park co-star Robert Redford.

Quiet facts about his passing

Ted Turner, founder of CNN and Turner Broadcasting, died at 87, Turner Enterprises confirmed on May 6. His cause of death has not been disclosed; he had revealed a 2018 diagnosis of Lewy body dementia. He is survived by five children, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The TCM Classic Film Festival ran April 30–May 3.
