Reports indicate that some individuals managed to escape the waters on their own. State broadcaster RTVE noted that warnings had been issued by local authorities about the dangerous waves just the day before this incident. The natural pools, often regarded as hidden gems by tourists, can transform into perilous traps during rough seas: massive waves can drag unsuspecting individuals into the open ocean, and the strong currents frequently make returning to safety nearly impossible.

Just days prior, on November 8, similar distressing events had been witnessed on Tenerife, resulting in three fatalities and 15 injuries. Once again, the island finds itself grappling with a devastating occurrence.
