Rodrigo praised French Gates as “one of the most inspiring women I’ve ever met,” noting her lifelong work to empower women and girls and saying she was floored by the pledge. French Gates, who joined Rodrigo onstage, redirected praise to the audience: "All of you. When women and girls come together to dream and to lead, we change the world." Rodrigo later wrote on Instagram that she was "incredibly moved" by French Gates’ generosity.
The festival also gave attendees a chance to meet nonprofit partners addressing reproductive health care, legal advocacy, maternal health and economic justice. The $20 million will be divided equally among Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, National Women’s Law Center and Planned Parenthood.
