How the injury happened

He explained that on Call of Duty he recorded 10 DLC voices, each session lasting about four hours and requiring frequent yelling and grunting. The constant strain left his voice severely damaged and in pain.

The surprising diagnosis and recovery

Doctors diagnosed chondroid metaplasia in his vocal folds — a condition linked to extreme overuse where muscle tissue can begin to form cartilage. Surgeons used scalpels and lasers to treat it, and Green says he’s improving. He now focuses more on self-care and, although some top registers are limited, he was told practice and time could help restore them.
